Surgeries are recommencing at Windsor Regional Hospital's Ouellette Campus.

Officials say repairs to a failed valve are complete. The valve is used to supply steam pressure to the equipment which sterilizes surgical instruments.

Two of the three autoclaves are back in business after tests were conducted earlier today.

The third machine is being repaired after an unrelated issue was discovered.

Officials say 76 surgeries were postponed and they say staff hope to resume normal operations on Monday.

They add the department continues to handle critical cases.
