The union representing support workers in Windsor’s Catholic schools began legal strike action Monday morning.

Unifor says the support workers are officially in a legal strike position and picketing outside of schools.

The union says that wages have been frozen since 2012. Both bargaining units have been without a contract since Aug. 31, 2014.

There are 370 support workers with the board including office assistances, IT workers, custodians, and clerical workers.

The school board is assuring parents that all schools will be open and that transportation vehicles will operate as usual.

The union also says that the pickets will not interfere with students getting to school on time.
