A special weather statement and heat warning has been issued for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

Environment Canada issued the weather statement ahead of system moving in from the United States. This system is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms – consisting of heavy downpours, lightning and gusty winds.

At the same time the weather authority has issued a heat warning for the region. Environment Canada says a warm and humid airmass will fall over the region Tuesday, with temperatures peaking in the lower 30’s. However, the humidex will make it feel like the upper 30’s.

The potential for severe weather is most likely Tuesday afternoon into the evening.
