Snow and freezing temperatures are causing tricky driving conditions in Essex County and Chatham-Kent.

Environment Canada issues a special weather statement for Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent Wednesday  afternoon.

A relatively small amount of snow, about five centimetres, is expected to affect most areas of southern Ontario. The predicted high for Windsor is 0 C.

Amherstburg police sent out an advisory on Twitter Wednesday morning. Police say rural roads are becoming slick and icy with blowing snow. They are telling motorists to drive cautiously.

Chatham-Kent police also tweeted that roads are very slick across the area. OPP say they have reports of  icy road conditions with poor visibility on Highway 401 through Chatham.

A tractor trailer went in the ditch on Highway 401 westbound between County Road 42 and Comber. Police say it is partially blocking the slow lane.
