Wine commemorating the War of 1812 and the Coastal Trails: Sails to See Tall Ships Festival was introduced Thursday in Amherstburg.

Six Essex County, Pelee Island and Chatham-Kent area wineries have produced a special series called Stowaway 1812.

The bottles are labeled with images of six different tall ships.

"Travel the Wine Route, the Coastal Trails Route, and Route 1812 to collect all six bottles," says Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island. "The collaboration amongst the wineries and amongst the communities speaks volumes to the precedent we are setting as a region."

The wines are a limited edition highlighting the bicentenial celebrations. They are on sale and can be purchased at these wineries: Colio Estate Wines, Cooper's Hawk Vineyards, Pelee Island Winery, Oxley Estate Winery, Smith and Wilson Estate Wines, and Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery.

The tall ships are expected in the region by the end of August.
