A fire at 7441 Talbot Trail in Blenheim on Monday morning has injured two people and caused an estimated $200,000 in damage.

Fire crews from three stations with the Chatham-Kent Fire Department were called to the scene around 10:15 a.m. for a shed fire.

Officials say while firefighters were working a build-up of heat caused one propane tank to fail and rupture, leaving two people with minor injuries. They were treated at the scene by EMS.

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a home south of the storage shed.

The cause of the fire is believed to be the accidental ignition of a flammable liquid.

Officials are reminding people to take precautions when working around combustible liquids like fuels.
