An RCMP Search and Rescue plane has been called in, as LaSalle police search for a 911 caller near a conservation area.

Dispatch received a call shortly after midnight on Wednesday from a person sounding to be in distress and requested police assistance. However, the reception for the call was poor and the caller’s voice was faint – possibly having trouble breathing.

The caller was unable to provide much information about where they were, aside from stating they were outside. A GPS search of the phone showed the call may have originated in the area of Morton Drive at Malden Road.

Police have attempted to call the phone back, but get a message stating the phone was no longer assigned to a subscriber.

Officers are now on the ground canvassing the area on ATVs and bicycles, but have since turned up negative results. An RCMP Search and Rescue plane has been requested to assist with the search of Brunet Park and Morton Trail.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
