At a meeting Tuesday evening residents made sure the Greater Essex County District School Board knew how they felt about the possible closures of two area high schools.

Western and Harrow high school have both been recommended for closure.

Tuesday evening, as many as 200 people from Harrow and Amherstburg had a chance to voice their opposition.

The Board is blaming low enrollment and 6,100 empty spaces across the system as reasons for the possible closures.

The recommendation also calls for a new JK to grade 12 school in Kingsville and a grade nine to grade 12 school in Amherstburg.

The Board is expected to reach a final decision on October 13th.
