Windsor has received a record-breaking amount of rain this month and that has left some scrambling.

Near Wheatley, lakeside residents were contemplating evacuation over the weekend.

The Cotterie Park neighbourhood between Wheatley and Leamington was hit hard by Lake Erie waves and heavy rain.

"Saturday was probably a little scary. A combination of the wind and the rain made for some pretty flooded conditions in our little neighbourhood here," one may says.

Saturday set rainfall records in the Rose City.

"The airport itself reported 62.6 millimetres, just on Saturday itself, on June 27, and that also was a record for that date in history at the airport. The previous record for the wettest June 27 was 37.8mm back in 1983," says Environment Canada meterologist Geoff Coulson.

Environment Canada says the region has collected 199.2 millimetres of rain so far in June, breaking the previous record of 170 mm in 2008.

The region has collected 99.2mm of rain so far in June, breaking the previous record of 170 mm in 2008.

The combined total of 350 mm of rain in May and June also breaks the previous record of 290 mm in 1968.

Environment Canada says more rain could be on the way. There’s a 70 per cent chance of showers Monday night and Tuesday, with a risk of a thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon.

Coulson says the area is also cooler than usual. Normal daytime high is 27 C. Today’s high is expected to reach 24 C.

"Initially there was a sense that July would be a little warmer than normal, but based on the information I'm seeing now, it's more likely that overall July will be around normal temperature wise and we may in fact...still see a few days that are going to be cooler than normal."
