New Beginnings in Windsor is getting a new youth outreach worker thanks to the Ontario government.

The worker will join four others at the organization on Erie Street. The purpose will be to provide young people in Windsor-Essex with mentorship and guidance.

“We know that strong mentorship can help at-risk young people make more positive choices,” says Mary Kay Morand, New Beginnings executive director. “The additional youth outreach worker in Windsor will help to reach more youth in need of guidance and go a long way to make our community stronger.”

The initiative adds a total of 35 new youth outreach workers in nine communities across the province.

“Youth outreach workers are hired directly from the neighbourhoods they work in to ensure they are aware of, and sensitive to, issues facing local communities,” says Windsor West MPP Teresa Piruzza.
