Windsor police were called out to the Mac’s variety store in the 3800 block of Walker Road around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Officers say a man with a backpack and firearm entered the business. His face was covered with possibly a kerchief or scarf.

A worker at the store tells CTV News $40 was taken from the cash register.

"They don't keep much money on hand, so when someone leaves they don't get much, so the traumatic experience you are causing someone is not worth it," says Windsor police Const. Andrew Droulliard.

Witnesses tell police the masked man was last seen running west on Ledyard Avenue.

Droulliard says the K9 unit was on scene, but no arrests have been made.

One employee told CTV News this is the second robbery in the last week. He says on Saturday a man entered the store and stole $500 worth of lottery tickets."

Drouillard says any incident similar to this can be extremely frightening for an employee held at gun point.

"We always suggest the victim comply with the person that is committing the offense,”says Drouillard.  “It's not worth it to get injured.”

He’s described as white with a slender build somewhere between 5’ 3” to 5’ 6” tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
