LaSalle police are looking for a female driver who allegedly left the scene after hitting a youth on a bicycle.

It took place at Michigan and Maple Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Police say the boy, about 14 to 15 years old, had the right of way at the intersection with a two-way stop.

The van stopped and then proceeded, colliding with the youth, say police.

The woman apparently got out and told the boy that he was supposed to stop, saying it wasn’t her fault. Police say she then left the scene and the boy rode his bike home.

When he told him mom what happened, she called police.

The boy had scrapes and scratches to his elbows and legs and his right hip bruised.

The mother is concerned that the driver didn’t call police.

“It might appear that it’s minor but how do you know for sure,” says Const. Harbinder Gill.

He also says drivers need to pay attention to cyclists.

The driver is described as a white woman, about 40 to 50 years old, with brown hair and a European accent.
