Chatham-Kent police say a man tried to take a crowbar and spray paint from a business by hiding the items in his pants.

Police say security personnel at a St. Clair Street business observed a man concealing spray paint and a crowbar in the front of his pants around 5 p.m. Saturday.

They say the man did not pay and left the store before trying to leave on a bicycle. Store security stopped the man and placed him in custody.

Police were then called and they charged a 41-year-old Chathham man with theft and possession under $5,000.
