LaSalle police have identified a body discovered in the Detroit River near the Windsor Salt Mine.

Officers the deceased is a 45-year-old Detroit man who has been missing since Dec. 25. A post mortem examination has ruled out foul play.

On Monday, a LaSalle dad, who was walking with his children along the shoreline of the Detroit River, located a suspicious object just south of the Windsor Salt Mine on Saturday afternoon.

Officers of the LaSalle Police Service were called to the scene, and confirmed the object was a body of a middle aged male.

The body was retrieved from the water and found to have identification leading the officers to believe the deceased might be from the United States.
