Plans on a proposed expansion at the Ouellette campus of Windsor Regional Hospital are being scaled back.

Originally, the hospital planned on a $100-million angioplasty expansion at the campus, 10 percent of which has to be raised by the community.

Officials said in a letter to the community, with provincial funding being limited they don't want to discourage the government from building a state-of-the-art mega hospital in the region.

Windsor Regional took over operation of the Ouellette campus from Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital on Oct. 1.

The hospital is now looking at alternate plans to provide 24-7 cardiac angioplasty services.
