Chatham-Kent OPP are advising drivers of the re-routing of traffic on the westbound Highway 401 during construction expected to last through November.

All westbound lanes from Merlin Road to County Road 42 are closed for resurfacing and drivers are asked to find an alternate route if possible.

A median crossover has been put in place, and the two eastbound lanes are serving as one eastbound and one westbound lane.

There is also a median crossover in place for motorists to access the westbound On Route Service Centre.

Access to Highway 401 westbound at Queens Line is closed.

The speed limit in the area has been reduced to 80 km/h, and drivers are reminded that fines for speeding are doubled when construction workers are present.

Construction is expected to be completed by Nov. 27, 2015.

Chatham-Kent OPP say they've been busy with a number of collisions in the construction zone and are urging motorists to be patient and allow plenty of room between vehicles in case of sudden stops.
