Over 240 students across Windsor-Essex took part in the region’s first Manufacturing Day event organized by Workforce Windsor-Essex.

The day provided opportunities for local manufacturers to talk with youth and promote local job opportunities in the sector.

The students toured several manufacturing facilities in Windsor-Essex. A.V Gauge & Fixture Inc., Cavalier Tool & Manufacturing Ltd., Omega Tool Corp, Platinum Tool Technologies, Radix Inc., and Reko International all opened their doors.

"Manufacturing Day is a great opportunity for companies to open their doors to the students and public to bring awareness to the great careers and opportunities that exist in manufacturing in Windsor and Essex County,” says Dan Moynahan, president of Platinum Tool Technologies.

The event received funding from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Manufacturing Day has been held in the United States for the past few years.
