The site location for a new acute care hospital in Essex County is about to pick up.
Request for proposals for a new mega hospital closed on Wednesday, with over 20 potential sites listed from around Windsor and Essex County.
An 11 member volunteer selection subcommittee will now examine the location, weighing the pros and cons for each site. The committee will then craft a short-list of potential sites, and invite the property owners to provide more information.
“It shows the benefit of having such an open, unique, inclusive and transparent process,” David Musyj, CEO of Windsor Regional Hospital said.
Due to the high volume of potential locations, the next stage in the selection process isn’t expected to be completed until early 2015.
The new acute care hospital will cost an estimated $1- billion to build.
