Ten fawns brought to an animal rehabilitation centre are healthy and recovering.

In June, six baby deer were brought to Wings Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Amherstburg, from concerned citizen, who thought the animals were orphaned. Officials say five other deer were also brought in, but one of the creatures died as a result of malnourishment.

The remaining 10 baby deer however, are beginning to thrive. The fawns are eating on their own, without the care of a mother.

The deer will remain in the care of rehab officials until next spring, where they will be released back into the wild.
