TORONTO - Premier Kathleen Wynne has agreed to a Progressive Conservative request for a legislative committee to study the issues of sexual assault and harassment, but the opposition parties accuse her of playing politics.

Tory Laurie Scott has been asking for a select committee with equal representation from all three parties to study sexual harassment since allegations against former CBC radio star Jian Ghomeshi surfaced last month.

Wynne finally responded with a letter today offering to have a standing committee look at the issue and expand its scope to include sexual violence.

Scott complains that would be a Liberal-dominated committee, and says Wynne is trying to politicize the issue, calling the premier's move unfair.

And she says the committee should decide on the scope of its investigation, not the premier or the Liberal government.

Wynne says she wants to depoliticize the discussion about sexual harassment and violence so the committee hears from a broad range of people and their experiences.
