An online tool is intended to make it easier for men and women to reduce their cancer risk.

My CancerIQ users can calculate their personalized risk of developing breast, cervical, colorectal and lung cancers through a series of interactive questionnaires. It takes less than 10 minutes.

It is a joint initiative by the Erie St. Clair Regional Cancer Program and Cancer Care Ontario.

The organizations say based on the results, My CancerIQ helps Ontarians reduce their cancer risk by providing personalized recommendations and access to additional trusted resources.

“MyCancer IQ.ca is better than Dr. Google’s office,” says Dr. John Day, primary care physician for the Erie St. Clair cancer program. “I always tell my patients: if you go to the net, find a credible site, one properly vetted by medical professionals.”

The site says up to half of all cancers in Ontario can be prevented by eliminating known risk factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, poor diet and lack of physical activity.

My CancerIQ personalized risk reports and guides can be saved, printed and emailed. It can be accessed from a smartphone, tablet or desktop.
