Investigators have determined one of two fires on Ottawa Street this weekend to be arson.

The Windsor Police Service Arson Unit says a fire at Alibi’s Family Grill in the 900 block of Ottawa Street was intentionally set early on Saturday morning. Windsor fire crews were dispatched to the scene around 1:45 a.m.

The business, along with upper residential units, suffered roughly $400,000 in damages. No residents were hurt, but a firefighter did suffered smoke inhalation and had to be transported to hospital.

Crews were called back out to Ottawa Street on Sunday, this time in the 800 block. Smoke could be seen coming from the building around 2 p.m. Unattended cooking has been deemed as the cause.

One person was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
