Blowing snow and poor visibility has resulted in several closures throughout Windsor-Essex.

Essex County OPP closed County Road 8 between Manning Road and Pinkerton Road for a brief time Wednesday morning due to poor road conditions and abandoned cars. Police are asking the public to stay off the roads if at all possible.

St. Clair College has cancelled its classes starting at noon. At the University of Windsor, classes are on as scheduled.

School buses are cancelled throughout Windsor-Essex, but schools remain open for both the Greater Essex County District School Board and the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board.

The Town of Leamington has cancelled their transit services for the day.

In the city, Windsor police say they’ve responded to eight minor collisions and 11 stranded motorists. They’re echoing the words of the OPP, “only go out if you must.”

Chatham-Kent public works has declared a snow emergency.  The municipality has placed a 72-hour parking ban on those area roads, to assist with snow removal.
