The 14-year-old Nova Scotia boy who has been living with family in Leamington, will not be forced to go back to Nova Scotia.

The child is officially in the care of the Nova Scotia government.

His case got tangled up in red tape after his aunt and uncle were deemed appropriate guardians and he moved to Ontario.

On Thursday, his Nova Scotia case worker flew to Leamington to do an in personal assessment and says the boy can stay.

He's been given the option to go back to the Maritimes to say goodbye, but that'll be up to him.
