Provincial police have charged a North York man in connection to a Highway 401 crash that sent three people to hospital with critical injuries.

On Thursday, Chatham-Kent OPP revealed they’ve charged the driver of a Pontiac minivan, 37-year-old Ismail Durmus with careless driving.

The charge stems from an Oct. 7 crash on the Highway 401 near Kent Bridge Road. Provincial police say Israfil Kilic, 33, of Windsor, was ejected from the minivan, when it entered the median and landed on its side in the westbound lane.

Durmus and the other passenger, 32-year-old Hanifi Ozdemir, also from North York, had to be extricated by police and EMS.

All three individuals were transported to a London hospital.
