Another stunt driving charge on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
The OPP say an officer conducting RADAR enforcement on the 401 near Dillon Road observed a westbound vehicle travelling at 160 km/hr around 3:30 a.m. on Monday.
The driver, 23-year-old Ao Yu of Windsor has been charged with stunt driving and failing to surrender an insurance card.
Less than eight hours earlier, around 7:45 p.m., another OPP officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on highway 40 near Fairview Line when they observed a vehicle speeding higher than 130 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone.
Dackoter Marlow, 32, from Kent Bridge has been charged with stunt driving.
Both driver's licences have been suspended and both vehicles have been impounded for a period of seven days.
Two drivers from Oshawa were also charged with stunt driving on Highway 401 last week.
Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that stunt driving or racing is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving, and it puts everyone on the road at serious risk of injury or death.
The penalties for driving 50 km/hr or more over the speed limit are as follows:
- Immediate 7-day licence suspension and 7-day vehicle impoundment
- Upon conviction, $2000 to $10,000 fine, 6 demerit points, up to 6 months jail, up to 2 years licence suspension for a first conviction
- Driver's licence suspension of up to 10 years for a second conviction within 10 years.
