Windsor fire crews were called out to a home fire at 839 Assumption St., just before 5 a.m. Monday morning.

It wasn’t long before the house next door at 835 Assumption also caught fire.

Damage is estimated at $500,000.

Fire officials describe both structures as multi-unit residential buildings.

Fire is said to have broken through the roof of one of the buildings.

As a precaution, residents of 839 Assumption were also asked to leave their homes.

Police are said to have closed Assumption Street off to traffic between Parent and Marentette Avenues.
