A severely injured puppy that was brought to the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society in May has been adopted.

Ten-month-old Coco has been adopted from a Nova Scotia animal shelter. Humane society executive director, Melanie Coulter says they transferred Coco to the east coast because they were struggling to find her a local owner.

When Coco arrived at the humane society there was concern that the dog was a pitbull – a breed that is illegal in Ontario. However, DNA tests showed that Coco was in fact a bulldog-basset hound mix.

Coulter didn’t know too much about the adoption, but says things are going well with Coco’s new owner.
