Get ready to bust out the winter coats for Halloween; the National Weather Service is forecasting snow for the Windsor-Detroit area.

According to the U.S. weather authority, Friday will see a 90 per cent chance of precipitation, including a mix of rain and snow for Halloween night. Temperatures are expected to hover around 1 C.

However, the NWS is predicting little or no snow accumulation on Friday. This rain-snow mix is forecast to continue into Saturday, with temperatures warming up slightly to 6 C.

Environment Canada is calling for snow for parts of southern Ontario, but Chatham-Kent and Essex County is not included. Instead, the weather service is predicting a wet and rainy Halloween.

For those further up the Highway 401, the snow is expected to accompany a low pressure system that is developing over Lake Superior.

The system is forecast to hit the lower Great Lakes on Friday.
