A section of Highway 3 that runs through Essex and Kingsville is about to undergo a lengthy construction process.

Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation says a 10.2 km stretch of Highway 3 will go through a one year reconstruction phase starting in the spring of 2015.

The project will consist of paving, drainage improvements and culvert work between Essex Road 27 and Essex Road 34.

Declan Corp. has been hired to conduct a study of the roadway, and provide recommendations on how to best conduct the constructions. One of those recommendations includes shutting down the highway all together.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to provide input during a consultation period in late 2014.
