The John McGivney Children’s Centre has launched a redesigned child care program.

Officials say the program welcomes children ages 18 months to five years old with special needs, and those without, to grow together in an enriched setting.

It is intended to builds friendships between children of all abilities who motivate one another and learn through play.

“This newly redesigned child care program is the result of a realignment of our resources to better meet the evolving needs of families and to improve accessibility,” said CEO Elaine Whitmore in a news release.

She says what remains constant is a family-centered program with on-site resource support and with direct access to pediatric rehabilitation expertise for children who require that level of care for a fully inclusive experience.

“The business model for the program is a financially sustainable one for the Centre, but most importantly, is affordable for families,” says Whitmore.

The program can accommodate 32 full-time children in two classrooms with the potential of expanding up to 48 across three classrooms.

Full-time daily fees for the program are $45, and fee subsidies are available for those families who qualify. Enrollment will be split between children with special needs and those without.

Drop-in open house hours for families to meet the teachers, tour the classrooms and explore the courtyard playground will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27 and Wednesday, Sept. 2; from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.

Enrollment applications are available on the Centre’s website: www.jmccentre.ca.
