Windsor police say a man’s drivers licence was suspended for having alcohol in his system following a collision with a 10-year-old cyclist.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Mill Street and Sandwich Street on Monday at about 4:45 p.m. for a crash between a pickup truck and a cyclist.

Investigation revealed that there was heavy traffic and it was backed up.  At some point a pickup truck collided with a 10-year-old boy who was riding his bike.

The boy sustained a broken leg and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Police say the 60-year-old male driver was issued the roadside screening device which resulted in an alert.  He was issued a three-day licence suspension and his vehicle was towed.

The collision is still under investigation and police are asking anyone that witnessed the accident to call.
