Provincial police says a Michigan man is facing impaired driving charges after crashing into a railway control box in Tecumseh.

OPP responded to a scene at the rail tracks on Tecumseh Road East just west of Lacasse Boulevard on Monday, around 8:30 p.m.

Police say an eastbound vehicle crashed through shrubs and a nearby fence, eventually coming to rest when it hit a railway control box. No injuries are reported.

Police say the 33-year-old Dearborn, Mich., man was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to provide a breath sample and dangerous driving.

Rail technicians are continuing their repairs on the control box. Until it has been fixed, Tecumseh fire is asking motorists to be extra cautious when crossing the tracks.

Neighbours say the trains have continued to run.
