Marshalls Canada officially opened its first store in Windsor Thursday morning.

Shoppers lined up outside the new location at 655 Sydney Avenue, east of Howard Avenue and across from the Devonshire Mall.

The retailer says it is known for a wide selection of big brand fashions, a boxed footwear department with over 3,000 pairs of brand name shoes and home décor items.

“We are excited to launch our first store in Windsor,” says Colleen Uncao, Marshalls Canada spokesperson. “We know that Canadians are smart shoppers who seek stylish merchandise and we’re excited to provide them with incredible deals on high-quality, in-season, designer pieces.”

To mark the grand opening of the Windsor store, Marshalls donated $5,000 to Kids Help Phone.

Marshalls is owned by The TJX Companies, Inc., which operates over 3,300 stores including Marshalls, T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods in the United States. In Canada, the company also operates Winners and HomeSense stores.
