Appliances include; gas furnace or water heater, space heaters, fireplace, wood-burning stove, etc.

As of April 15, every home in Ontario that meets the criteria is legally required to have a carbon monoxide detector.

The rule also applies to those who rent an apartment in a building with six units or less.

If you're caught without an alarm, it could cost you over $230.
