A man was taken to the Public General Hospital in Chatham Saturday following a tractor accident near  Ridgetown.

The man was driving a tractor east on Front Line near the Smith Harvey & Sons Gravel Pit when the right tire blew out, police say. He applied the brakes and that sent the tractor into an eight-foot ditch. The tractor rolled and the driver was thrown off.

When police arrived on scene about 2 p.m., the man was lying on his back near the tractor. He was conscious and taken to the hospital with non-life threateneing injuries.

Damage to the tractor is between $25,000 to $30,000.
