A man driving through downtown Windsor with a smashed side window has been charged after being stopped by police.

According to Windsor police, the officer was patrolling the area of Park Street West and Church Street on Monday around 1:05 a.m., when they noticed the Dodge Caravan.

When the vehicle was stopped, police say the driver indicated the van belonged to his uncle and that he was borrowing it. The officer noticed that the ignition and steering coloumn appeared to be tampered with.

Investigators contacted the registered owner of the minivan, who indicated the vehicle was stolen and that he didn’t know the suspect.

Ryan Langlois, 22, of Windsor was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a break-in instrument and possession of stolen property.
