Chatham-Kent police are investigating after a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning that left a man dead.

Emergency crews were called to the area behind the Thames Lea Plaza in Chatham around 5:30 a.m. for a crash.

Officials say a 51-year-old Chatham man driving a Ford Focus collided with the rear of the Staples building.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where he succumbed to his injuries.

His name is being withheld at the request of his family, and police are offering them their deepest condolences.
