OPP officers were kept busy over the Thanksgiving weekend on area roadways, conducting various forms of enforcement, leading to several charges.

In Essex County, there were the following offences:

-74 provincial offence notices, including several ‘move over’ and speeding violations from three radar intercept initiatives

-19 provincial summons, including five suspended drivers and one stunt driving

- Three warning range approved screening device suspensions

- Five Criminal Code charges

Essex County OPP members also responded to 25 motor vehicle collisions all of a minor injury or property damage variety. Thankfully, there were no fatalities to report over the holiday weekend.

In Chatham-Kent, OPP conducted a traffic enforcement initiative which resulted in 211 Criminal Highway Traffic Act charges being laid. The time frame was from Friday morning until Monday afternoon.

-Distracted Driving 44

-Moving Violations 57
