Zoning has been approved for three medical marijuana facilities in the Town of Tecumseh.
Two public meetings were held Tuesday night in Tecumseh, which provided residents the opportunity to give their two cents about the proposed facilities. Mayor Gary McNamara says there was little opposition from the public.
As a result, town council has approved the re-zoning of properties on Walker Road, Halford Drive, and in the Black Acre industrial park.
"We basically are treating this as an industrial site. No different than any other pharmaceutical company that would want to establish a business in the community,” says McNamara. “We look at it in terms of, where it should be and also about job creation."
However it’s not a done deal. All three facilities still have to acquire additional permits, but once established the facilities will create upwards of 40 to 50 jobs.
