Big news today from the Local Health Integration Network - the provincial agency is committing $1-million a year for a new community health centre in Leamington.

The funding will support all operations, including programs and services, at the new site.

The acting CEO of the Erie St. Clair LHIN, Ralph Ganter, says the investment will help improve the health of residents who may find challenges accessing care.

The focus will be residents with low or no income, newcomers, migrant workers, low German speaking residents and indigenous individuals.

They will have access to physicians and nurse practitioners as well as many other services, such as a healthy babies program, foot care and respiratory therapy.
