The fields are set, and the stage is ready, as the Ontario Summer Games get underway in Windsor.

Athletes from across the province have arrived in the Rose City, some already hitting the field. Both soccer and mountain biking kicked off Thursday afternoon, hours ahead of the opening ceremony.

Officials estimate 2,500 participants will take part in 19 different sports across the city.

The opening ceremony kicks off at 7 p.m. at the University of Windsor’s Alumni Field. CTV Windsor’s Christie Bezaire is co-hosting the event that will feature performances from Danielle Wade and The Walkervilles.

The ceremony is free to the public, with bleacher seating available on a first come, first serve basis. Once all seating is taken, the public will be directed to the lawn. Note that lawn chairs will be prohibited.
