A 50-year-old Leamington woman, who allegedly broke into a residence early Saturday, has been charged with breaking and entering.

OPP say residents of a home on Elliott Street woke up to loud noises about 7:30 a.m.

They found a woman in the kitchen. Police said the homeowner held the woman while another resident phoned police.

Police saw a woman on a bike while they were en route to the house and stopped her. After speaking to the home occupants, they said the description matched the woman on the bike.

About an hour later, they went to the suspect’s home and made an arrest.

The woman is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 5.
