A Chatham-Kent police officer and a Wallaceburg resident both had knives pulled on them in two separate incidents, police say.

The officer was responding to a call Saturday afternoon on Pier Road in Romney Township and came upon an 18-year-old female from Leamington.

Police say the woman became aggressive and assaultive and threw a knife at the officer, who was not hit.

The woman was charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

In the second incident, police say a male entered a home on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg around 2 a.m. Sunday. The suspect was confronted by the occupant of the home and after a very brief conversation the suspect tried to make off with the victim’s wallet.

The suspect then produced a knife when the victim tried to prevent the theft and then left the residence with the wallet.

Police were contacted and arrested the suspect a short distance away.

The 30-year-old Wallaceburg resident has been charged with break and enter to commit theft, robbery with theft, weapons dangerous.
