Chatham-Kent police say they sent a 33-year-old Leamington man to Windsor’s South West Detention Centre after an officer allegedly clocked a vehicle travelling nearly 50 kilometres over the speed limit.

Police say the car was travelling at 113 km/h in a posted speed limit of 60 km/h on Talbot Trail near Erieau Road, around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The officer discovered the man was suspended from driving, and was wanted on two outstanding warrants – both driving while under suspension.

The vehicle, which belonged to a friend, was impounded for a week in accordance with the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
