Lakeshore's new multi-use recreation facility has a new name.

At a news conference Tuesday morning, Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain announced the recreation facility will be called the Atlas Tube Centre.

The centre will offer three NHL size ice pads, an indoor walking track, community meeting spaces, a dance studio and library.

“As members of this community we are proud to lend our services to empower our town to build this beautiful facility,” says owner Barry Zekelman, owner of Atlas Steel.

The second phase of construction is scheduled to start in the fall and will include an aquatic centre and five kilometre walking trail.
