A 17-year-old Lakeshore girl was charged with impaired driving after she allegedly attempted to avoid a RIDE program.
OPP in Lakeshore conducted a RIDE initiative on Sunday at about 2 a.m. on Essex County Road 22 near West Puce Road.
Officers say they saw a red Jeep brake abruptly and turn before the RIDE stop in an effort to evade police. Officers stopped the vehicle a short distance away.
Police say the vehicle contained a driver and four passengers and a strong odour of alcohol emanated from inside the vehicle.
The driver did a roadside screening test, which she failed, say police. Alcohol was allegedly found inside the vehicle.
She was arrested at the scene.
The 17-year-old driver was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content. She will appear in a Windsor court at a later date to answer to the charge.
