A 48-year-old Kingsville man is facing several charges after an OPP officer allegedly discovered him at the side of the road, lying on top of a female with injuries to her face.

Essex County OPP were on routine patrol on Saturday at 11:50 p.m. on Essex County Road 12 just west of the Arner Town Line in Essex.

An officer noticed a vehicle blocking half of the eastbound lane and stopped to investigate. 

The officer says a female lying on the side of the roadway on her back with a male on top of her yelling at her.  She had injuries to her face.

Police say the male exhibited signs of impairment and fled on foot. 

He was stopped by police a short distance later.  A struggle ensued and the male was arrested.

The Kingsville man was charged with assaulting a peace officer, assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting a peace officer, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceeding 80 milligrams blood alcohol content.

 

He will appear in a Windsor court on March 22 to answer to the charges.
