Windsor police are reminding drivers to be more careful unless they want their cars stolen.

Police say in there have been 388 vehicles stolen in the city so far this year and in 50 cases people left their spare keys in the vehicle.

Since October, officers have seen 17 vehicles stolen where the keys were left inside.

In some cases, the key set also contained house keys and the suspects also broke into the owner's home.

These stolen vehicles are also frequently used to commit other criminal offences.

Police say owners need to be mindful of their insurance policy because leaving keys in the vehicle may potentially void their coverage.
