Provincial police are raising alarm over a spike in the number of truck crashes.

The OPP says there have been nearly 1,300 collisions between November 1st and December 17th involving such vehicles.

More than 220 accidents happened over the past 10 days alone.

In one case, the OPP says the driver of a tractor trailer drove into a bridge support, resulting in the jack-knifed truck leaking 15,000 litres of diesel fuel into a creek.
